At Harris Neck, Georgia, in the remote northern reaches of McIntosh County, the United States government, in the fall of 1942, confiscated the lands along the South Newport and Barbour Island Rivers. Jaeger served with the Army Air Force during World War II. He was in basic training when the war ended and spent his time in service at several Air Force bases in the United States before being discharged in 1945. Jaeger eventually settled in Madison, Wis.
